The National Tourism Register – RNT in spanish – is based in the law of the Institute of Tourism in the articles 47, 90, 92 and 99. Please take note of the information below:

ARTICLE 47, Should be registered:

a) The providers of the tourism services

b) The facilities that offer tourism services

c) The classification and category of tourism services

d) The prices and rates of the tourism services

e) The type and characteristics of the service

f) All the information that the respective regulations establish

ARTICLE 90: Of the Infringements

The following are considered infringements:

a) Do not have or comply with the safety measures

b) Do not have the certify correspondent instructors that establishes them as such

c) Equipment in bad condition

d) Extract or allow extracting the coral formations

e) Lack of the credential that is issued by the Tourism Honduran Institute.

f) Non compliance with the obligations established in the previous article.

The infringements will be penalized with a fee of One thousand Lempiras the first time, two thousand Lempiras the second time, three thousand Lempiras the third time, the tourism service providers temporary cancellation of the certification or proof the fourth time and the definitive cancellation for the fifth time that the infringement is committed.

ARTICLE 92: Of the requirements of the inscription and the procedure. The inscription request to the National Tourism Chamber will be presented before the Tourism National Chamber, attaching the documents that have been mentioned in the numeral a) of this Article, with the exception of those that have to be applied to be registered tourist guides in which case it shall proceed according to what has been established in the Article 39 of this regulation.

Article 99: Of the Penalties. The Tourism Honduran Institute will impose the following penalties to the service providers:

b. For not having notified to the Tourism Honduran Institute the change of name, leasing, sale or any other analogous situation that the tourism service provider performs regarding his business; a fine of Five Hundred Lempiras will be imposed to the tourist provider without perjury of always meeting the notification obligation.

c. For not updating the documents in the Tourism National Registration in a period of one year, a fee of Five Hundred Lempiras will be imposed.

In the case that a year has gone by since the occurrence of the changes, the provider of the tourism services that encouraged to update in the mentioned Registry and has not updated it, a fine will be accumulated of One Thousand Lempiras for each year or fraction of a year that they delay to comply the indicated disposition.

Annual Inscription Fees:

The fees will be kept according to the established amount and frequency.
Tourism National Registration
It is a statistical, programming and regulation instrument for the tourism services that are provided in the country.

Who must register?

All the service providers that directly operate with the tourists such as: tourist guides, hotels, restaurants, cafeterias, car rentals, casinos that are located in the high category hotels, resorts, discotheques, air transportation, land transportation and maritime transportation for the exclusive use of the tourism activity, crafts, diving facilities, recreational centers, convention and congress centers.

Why do they need to register?

The Tourism Honduran Institute Act, Decree Number 193-93, published in La Gaceta July 14th, 1993; in its Article 39 establishes that the providers of the tourist services to be able to operate must be registered in the Tourism National Registry.

    • Access to the benefits established in the Tourism Incentive Law for the direct tourism services’ providers.
    • They will appear in the CANATURH page as accredited service provider.

El Registro Nacional Turístico – RNT – tiene sus antecedentes basadas en la Ley y Reglamento del Instituto Hondureño de Turismo en los artículos 47, 90, 92 y 99.  A continuación mas detalles de cada articulo mencionado.

Ley del IHT

ARTÍCULO 47, En el registro deberán estar inscritos:

  • a) Los prestadores de servicios turísticos
  • b) Los establecimientos que ofrezcan servicios turísticos
  • c) La clasificación y categoría de los servicios turísticos
  • d) Los precios y tarifas de los servicios turísticos
  • e) El tipo y características de los servicios, y,
  • f) Toda la información que señalen los reglamentos respectivos

Reglamento del IHT

Artículo 90. Infracciones. Se considera infracciones las siguientes:

  • a) No contar o no cumplir con las medidas de seguridad.
  • b) No contar los instructores con los correspondientes certificados que los acredite como tales.
  • c) Equipo en mal estado.
  • d) Extraer o permitir la extracción de formaciones coralinas.
  • e) Carecer de credencial que otorga el Instituto Hondureño de Turismo.
  • f) No cumplir con las obligaciones establecidas en el artículo precedente.

Las infracciones serán sancionadas con multa de Mil Lempiras la primera vez, Dos Mil Lempiras la segunda vez, Tres Mil Lempiras la tercera vez, cancelación temporal de la certificación o constancia de prestador de servicios turísticos en caso de infracción por cuarta vez y cancelación definitiva por la quinta vez que se cometa infracción.

ATRÍCULO 92. De los requisitos de inscripción y el procedimiento. La solicitud de inscripción en el registro nacional de turismo se presentará ante la Cámara Nacional de Turismo, debiéndose adjuntar los documentos mencionados  en el inciso a) del presente artículo, con excepción de los que aplicaren para ser inscritos como guías, en cuyo caso se procederá de conformidad a lo establecido en el artículo 39 del presente reglamento.

Artículo 99. De las Sanciones. El Instituto Hondureño de Turismo impondrá a los prestadores de servicios las sanciones siguientes:

Por no notificar al Instituto Hondureño de Turismo el cambio de nombre, arrendamiento, venta o cualquier otra situación análoga que realice un prestador de servicios turísticos respecto a su negocio, multa de Quinientos Lempiras que habrá de hacer efectiva el prestador de servicios turísticos, sin perjuicio de siempre cumplir con la obligación de notificación.

c. Por no mantener actualizado los documentos del Registro nacional de Turismo en un período de un año, se impondrá una multa de Quinientos Lempiras.

En caso que transcurra un año desde que se produjeron cambios el prestador de servicios turísticos que motivare la actualización en el Registro mencionado y no lo hiciere, se acumulará la Multa a razón de Un Mil Lempiras por cada año o fracción que tardare en darle cumplimiento a la disposición indicada.

Cuotas por inscripción anual

Las cuotas serán mantenidas según el monto y frecuencia ya establecida.
